Solidarity
Soli is an archaeological site on the northwest coast of Cyprus, about one kilometer from Gemikonağı, in the Güzelyurt (Morphou) region. This ancient polis was an Iron Age city-kingdom. It was situated on a river, the present-day Kambos, and possessed a harbor usable even in winter. Soli supplied timber and copper to Athens. One tradition attributes the site and its name to the Athenian Solon. However, the Prism of Esarhaddon, dating from the 7th century BC and older than Solon, already mentions Soli as one of the ten city-kingdoms of Cyprus. The site includes mosaics.
