International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama 2026
Das International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama findet vom 3. Juli bis 8. August 2026 zum 29. Mal statt. Es wird vom Department für zeitgenössische Kultur und dem Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute organisiert. In drei Städten Zyperns – Limassol, Paphos und Nikosia – werden lokale und internationale Theaterproduktionen aufgeführt. Gezeigt werden klassische Stücke von Euripides, Aristophanes und Aischylos mit zeitgenössischen Interpretationen, die Themen wie Krieg, Gewalt und kollektives Trauma behandeln. Die Eröffnung erfolgt am 3. und 4. Juli in Limassol mit „Die Troerinnen“ von Euripides. Weitere Aufführungen sind in Paphos und Nikosia geplant.
