International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama 2026

The International Festival of Ancient Greek Drama will take place for the 29th time from July 3 to August 8, 2026. It is organized by the Department of Contemporary Culture and the Cyprus Centre of the International Theatre Institute. Local and international theatre productions will be performed in three Cypriot cities – Limassol, Paphos, and Nicosia. The program includes classic plays by Euripides, Aristophanes, and Aeschylus with contemporary interpretations that address themes such as war, violence, and collective trauma. The festival opens on July 3 and 4 in Limassol with Euripides' "The Trojan Women." Further performances are planned in Paphos and Nicosia.
