GÜÇ-SEN two-hour warning strike in the port of Gazimağusa
The Customs Workers' Union (GÜÇ-SEN) held a two-hour warning strike from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the port of Gazimağusa. The strike was prompted by problems and staff shortages within the port. The union held a press conference in front of the customs department building in Gazimağusa. Among other things, the strikers criticized inadequate physical conditions, health hazards from chemical particles during ship painting, and insufficient safety precautions and staffing levels. The strike's objective was not to disrupt operations, but to protect the health of employees and ensure the continued operation of the port. The union called on the government and relevant ministries to implement modern, safe, and well-planned port management.
