Denizcilik Müzesi HMAS TEAL opens in Girne Yeni Liman on August 1st
The HMAS TEAL Maritime Museum, a historic ship originally serving the British and later the Australian Navy, will open on August 1st in Girne Yeni Liman. The museum showcases the maritime history of the Mediterranean and Cyprus through historical collections and contemporary art. Built as HMS JACTON and later renamed HMAS TEAL, the ship saw extensive military service and was used for various purposes after being decommissioned before arriving in Cyprus in 1994. Today, it is a museum ship that highlights the evolution of seafaring and the cultural significance of the sea for the region. The exhibition includes historical maps, documents, navigational instruments, and artworks that bring maritime culture and history to life for visitors.
