Rental cars in the south are an interesting alternative

Many tourists assume that rental cars are particularly cheap in Northern Cyprus. However, our personal experiences paint a somewhat different picture.

While good deals can occasionally be found in Northern Cyprus, we would generally not say that rental cars are cheaper there than in other popular holiday destinations.

For a small car, you should expect to pay around 30 to 35 euros per day, depending on the season and rental company. Prices can be higher during peak season.

Therefore, it's worth taking a look at the offers in the south of the island.

For example, if you land at Larnaca airport and plan to explore both northern and southern Cyprus anyway, a rental car from the south could be an interesting alternative.

We have had particularly positive experiences with JRL Auto Village Cyprus. The company picks up customers directly at the airport and, in our experience, is one of the providers that allows travel to Northern Cyprus. On their official website, the provider even explicitly states that travel to Northern Cyprus is possible and that the required additional insurance can be purchased at the border.
